Wearables, Connected Car, Smart Home, Internet of Things: they are all parts of the same phenomenon, a sensor revolution. Computers are coming to meet us in our world, on our terms. Machine learning will make sense of this data. Soon we will all have our own “Personal Wikipedia” of our lives, and “Personal Watson” that helps us to make decisions from that data. By the mid 2020s, we will each have a “guardian avatar” that virtualises ourselves: a digital doppelganger that acts as our ambassador in the virtual worlds we create and inhabit.
