Telecom World 2019
We were delighted to see Budapest hosting the ITU Telecom World in 2019 with so many impressive exhibitors. This unique event offered an important platform for networking and a chance to discuss and show our latest innovation. We believe that technological development should benefit all society, and to achieve that we need to cherish partnerships. That's why ITU (Telecom World ) is an important networking event. New ideas and different experiences can facilitate a dialogue, allowing us to do more together, improving people's lives.
This is an excellent platform for the industry and all the sectors to come together and discuss, not only the operators and the manufacturers but also the service providers, the government and the regulators. They exchange views and create partnerships and synergies to make things happen.
It is a great place to network. It is very multi stakeholder, we have seen this week we have academia, we have civil society, the operators, the equipment companies, the regulators, the policy makers. It is really about convening and bringing everyone together and discussing the latest challenges and how we can together advance meaningful connectivity.
ITU Telecom World is a global platform, it is a great opportunity for all stakeholders to get together to discuss connectivity, policies, how these contribute to our digital transformation. That is the value of ITU Telecom World.
ITU is very good at convening events such as this, bringing all the various stakeholders together to have a dialogue and exchange ideas, and look at ways in which we can collaborate better to take forward the developments in technology and ensure everyone benefits.
I am very excited to know a lot of people are recognizing the work we are doing. Here you get to network with people you wouldn’t have back home, some of whom want to work with us when we go back, so we are going to convert all this into business.
This is extremely good because it allows us now to take our message to a bigger audience, which is the reason we came here in the first place. We have so many discussions, the opportunities we see, taking that message to governments – it is exceptional.
Being now in a place where ITU can recognize us for the work we have done, this is just the beginning, this is a long journey but it has started well, thank you! I met wonderful people who understand the problems and really want to make a difference, and it’s overwhelming.
Meeting some brilliant people. It’s a great opportunity for ministers, CEOs, thought leaders to come together to thrash out some of the really challenging issues.
For us it’s an important event because we can have a dialogue of what’s needed to achieve the goals of 5G. It is important to have the dialogue we have with the governments, with the regulators, with the other stakeholders, because if we are to make 5G a success we all need to be a part of that game.
Joining events like this gives an opportunity both to thank our partners but also to showcase that when private sector, public sector, governments come together there is really a meaningful conversation happening and action.
So much value! We meet with our own members who are here, it is perfect timing to talk with them about their priority needs. It is also an opportunity for us, too, because there are other industry players who need to know about CTO, and they want to take part, help promote the digital economy and become a sector member.
It has been invaluable, the contacts that you meet, really interesting networks of people, big global networks.To be able to share our project has been really important to us, and we have been able to share it amongst people who are leaders in our area.
I love these events because the ITU has been driving an agenda that is very familiar to GeSi, a kind of complementary agenda, it is now addressing more and more the societal dimension of technology, and that is the right way to go.

Telecom World 2018
It is a fantastic gathering bringing together professionals from the industry, the public, the UN organizations, the officials to talk to each other, to have heated discussions…this is how you get new ideas, this is how you identify opportunities and challenges.
These events are very important as we talk about everything, you see the points of view of other people which are interesting, share your points of view and you have the framework to collaborate in a better way.
If we prepare the world through digital education and digital development, we will have a much better world - and for the first time in mankind’s history it is possible to do this in one generation.
I am always very interested to see what new ideas are coming out in different markets, and the event inspires me in terms of thinking of ways of providing new services into the marketplace.
You see people you would otherwise never see and the value of exchange is great; and I learnt a lot about how quickly Africa is using technologies and leapfrogging to create new market – it is illuminating.
You see so many types of different people, you have so much valuable exchange between governments, telecom executives and the like, and fundamentally it is a great place to see a vibrant part of the global economy.
The innovations and companies exhibiting have been great, and the networking amongst the different organisations has been phenomenal.
It is truly remarkable, the cultural interaction learning from different nations, different cultures, different regions.
The value comes for me and for the young people who attend, who share what they have here and what they learn. Many young people come here with innovations, they exchange ideas and see how to create SMEs. There are many things we are here to learn, and we go back to our countries we try to implement these ideas.
This is an exceptional opportunity to interact with my peers, with governments and policy makers and all stakeholders in one place, and actually hear their perspectives.
The main value is knowing the new ideas and sharing knowledge with people coming from all over the world. We are talking about new topics such as agriculture, new concerns in the market, sharing knowledge and getting in touch with the regulators who are setting the laws to create more flexibility for businesses.
Digital fiat currency can benefit all the developing countries, so ITU Telecom World is a very good place for us to spread the message.
Unlike most other shows where I just see big brand companies, all the developing countries are here, and it is really for the benefit of all ITU’s member states.
This is the best place to meet the regulatory agencies, the mobile network operators, the telecoms ministers.

I am proud to be here to see the exciting innovations not only in the telecoms sector but also in other areas like fintech, ecommerce and 5G - the new era of technology here inspires me to do more and want to achieve more for society.
We have benefited a lot in terms of networking, and in terms of business expansion. This is the right place for us, it provides exposure and it provides experience, we will take it back to Sudan and implement what we can do and make a difference.
ITU is where the top opinion leaders in the field of ITU work to contribute to a better world.
It is a common platform bringing people in government, people in business, and also people in the different industry areas - all of us on one platform. It is an international platform where we are trying to coordinate and with this kind of coordination we will be able to make the world better, sooner rather than later.
ITU Telecom World gives me inspiration and insights each year. We get to see what other developed and innovative countries are applying in emerging technologies, and it is also a platform for all parties and stakeholders to discuss future development.
This event is an opportunity to meet all the actors in the international ecosystem. It was superb, really different visions from Asia and Africa, we met old partners and new, shard good practice, seen the enormous opportunities with SMEs in Iran and in South Africa – it was a really rich experience.
It is so exciting to be here, it is a great, great, great conference and exhibition! All these different experts from around the world come together to share ideas, collaborate and evolve the discussion, all these stakeholders come together to further science and innovation. No other entity can do that in the same fashion worldwide.

Telecom World 2016
This is a real opportunity to come together as partners, share with each other what we are doing and create new opportunities for us to work together in the future.
It is very important for us as we get to do two things: we present what we can contribute to other organizations but we can also to see what member states as well as private and public sector can give to us, how we can find areas of collaboration, and creating innovation centres.
I always find it a good place to connect with old friends but also to meet new people and get a sense of where governments are leaning in terms of ICT and policy and regulation. It is a great place to measure the pulse of the industry from the perspective of government, regulators and industry participants, to pressure test new ideas and really bring people into discussions.
The value is the networking, the ability to connect to so many different entities in one location and understand different perspectives. This really helps us in making connections with all the different players.
I was blown away by how many countries are here and what the delegates have brought to the event – and I was most impressed with the start-ups and ideas.
It is extremely useful to be here because it is one-stop shop to meet our customers, our partners, the industry. There is value in what we do and there is value in the history. When you have been doing the same thing for 20 years and it works, I think it is a good idea to continue doing it.
It has been of great value, we have had so much good contact, so many follow ups that we have do here, for us the value has been tremendous.
It is enabling us to connect and link to government, regulators and the private sector, meeting them and also sharing knowledge, what we have and what we learn in the forums, it benefits both sides.
It is extremely important to come to this event, to see what actually happens in the rest of the world, to have a vision, to make contacts and re-establish relationships.
It is very important to be here and meet people I have met before and build confidence and trust in terms of what we have learnt from each other. Also networking with new people I have never met before, they have talent and experience to share, and bringing Vanuatu to other places, to get the exposure for Vanuatu.
It’s extremely valuable, this is the place to meet the right people, have the right discussions, bring attention to important issues and have very valuable bilateral meeting with industry colleagues and regulators, to address new challenges in this co-creative way.
It is a very good platform to meet people not only from our sector but from other sectors, SMEs and start-ups. Bringing all these people together as new value chains are being created is absolutely critical.
You can make a tour of the world in a small space, visit stands from neighbours and the rest of the world to see and exchange experiences, in a way which would not otherwise be possible.
This event is very helpful for us to understand ICT trends all over the world and to keep and enhance better relationships with partners all over the world in networking with ICT.
